“An active mind in an active body.”
Education is all about aiming to know more, do more and be more. While learning so much about the world around us is no doubt interesting and exciting, one must aim to ensure that we as individuals are also becoming the best that we can – mentally, emotionally and physically. Sports is not only the best way to refresh and rejuvenate ourselves, it is an exercise in self-discovery as well. Be it team sports, track events or anything else, every sport we try has a way of bringing forth the true self.
Inspired by this truth, Central High International celebrates sports each year by holding an annual sports meet which encourages all students to enjoy the day and showcase their talent. The event held in the academic year 2014-15 was graced by Mr Oscar Kanjala, President of Malawi Olympic Committee and Mr Godfrey Phiri, President, Athletics Association of Malawi.
Both gentlemen applauded the school’s efforts towards encouraging sports at the school level and pledged their support to the budding sportspersons. The annual sports day saw participation of the students in a range of field and track events which included 100m dash, 200m races, relay events, javelin and discuss throw as well as team events such as basketball, football, netball and korfball which the students had been participating in all term.
