On November 8, 2023, Central High and Mount View International Schools hosted the Special Olympics Malawi (SOM) MBZ Unified Championship Schools Youth Summit, focusing on the theme “Building a Unified Generation.”
The summit aimed to promote social inclusion through Unified Sports, which brings together individuals with and without intellectual disabilities on the same sports teams. Officials from the Special Olympics Malawi, The Malawi National Council of Sports and representatives from both schools attended the successful event.
Various sporting activities, including swimming, soccer and tennis, were featured, showcasing the talents and camaraderie of athletes with diverse abilities. The summit not only celebrated sportsmanship but also underscored the importance of breaking down societal barriers and fostering a more inclusive community.
