The 2023 Judo tournament, hosted by the Judo Association of Malawi, was a remarkable event graced by esteemed guests, including the Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, His Excellency, Youichi Oya and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Uchizi Mkandawire.
Among the participants were Central High International School, Kamuzu Institute of Sports, Dzaleka Judo for Peace and St. Patrick’s School, contributing to the tournament’s diversity and competitive spirit.
Central High International School had a strong presence at the event with 11 dedicated learners, 6 boys and 5 girls. Their exceptional performance was reflected in the impressive medal count, with the boys securing 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, while the girls earned 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. The individuals who represented CHIS, including Blessings Koloviko, Umar Saiyed, Joel Chikwiri, Bruno Muhire, Tatenda Nyahunda, Kevin Thindwa, Chawanangwa Msuku, Ndagha Munthali, Modestar Ngumbi, Tapiwa Silungwe and Miracle Nyirenda, demonstrated outstanding skill and dedication.
This tournament will undoubtedly be remembered as a significant achievement for Central High International’s Judo Team, showcasing their talent and commitment to the sport.
