Department Head – Ms. S. Joseph
The main aims of teaching mathematics in school are to enable students to solve mathematical problems of daily life. In our school which is affiliated to Cambridge University the subject is compulsory for all students from year 7 to 11. From year 7 to 9 all students do the same course in maths.
From year 10 onwards they branch out into extended and core maths depending on their selection of vocations and taste for the subject.
We offer mathematics at Advanced Level (A) also. AS and A level each consist of a course in mathematics and another in statistics. As a department we aim at preparing a sound foundation needed for various vocations for further learning in maths and related subjects. We try to create a good understanding of the subject which would develop the rational and scientific attitude towards life.
